Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister thanked head coach Arne Slot, the coaching staff and his teammates for making things comfortable. Mac Allister pinpointed a week-long break he received due to two suspensions in the Premier League and the Champions League.

The 26-year-old midfielder earned time off with a postponed Everton game followed by his suspension matches against Girona and Fulham. Mac Allister has played a pivotal role for the Reds this season, as a regular partner with number-six Ryan Gravenberch.

The Argentina international played a number-six role last season under the legendary manager Jurgen Klopp in a very different tactic. Under Slot, Mac Allister has shifted back to his more natural number-eight role with more freedom to influence the attack.

The 26-year-old has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, scoring three goals and providing two assists this season. Mac Allister plays a pivotal role in circulating the possession and maintaining the dominance on the ball for the Reds.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Mac Allister thanked Slot, the coaching staff and his fellow teammate for making his overall life comfortable. He said:

“Definitely. We come back to the days off I had, I want to say thank you to Arne [Slot], the coaching staff and my teammates as well because while they were running a lot, I had a week off in between because I was suspended for the Premier League and Champions League at the same time. I had a week off, which was really important for me to be with the family and to enjoy and recharge the batteries. I’m really glad about my performances so far. Hopefully we can keep on going.”

Mac Allister will play his first Northwest Derby at Anfield when Liverpool battles Manchester United in the first game of 2025. The 26-year-old, along with his teammates, needs to continue the momentum that they built in the season’s first half.

Last season, Liverpool suffered a drastic late dip in form combined with their injury crisis which cost them major trophies. While poor officiating and intense scheduling have also played a big factor, these are the things beyond the team’s control.

Man United are suffering from a disastrous season but they possess individuals capable of creating a moment of magic. The Reds should maintain their focus until the final whistle and stay professionally ruthless to avoid any mistakes.
