Slot lauds Liverpool’s Mr. Consistency, key for upcoming months
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot praised Alexis Mac Allister for maintaining his high level of consistency throughout the current season. Mac Allister has played a pivotal role for the Reds alongside number-six Ryan Gravenberch in a double-pivot midfield this season.
The 26-year-old influences the game’s defensive and offensive aspects, using his intelligence, technique and relentless mentality to dictate the tempo. Slot has installed a new style of play at Liverpool that demands more control and focus on dominating the game.
The Reds have enjoyed great success under the new tactical style despite the lack of spending during the summer window. Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League and the Champions League, seriously pushing for every major title.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference (via Liverpoolfc.com), Slot highlighted the consistent performance of Mac Allister who played a crucial role for Liverpool this season. He said:
“No, because he played outstanding before. When I think about Macca, I cannot come up with a poor performance from him – he is so consistent in his performances. Of course, he is not like Mo, Cody or Lucho scoring 15 goals and 12 assists, but he is so involved in every game we play. He is so important for us defensively as well, bringing the ball towards these players. For me, he didn’t find better performances afterwards [the suspension], but I think every player benefits for the long term to have sometimes a few days or a period off as well. I was happy I could give this to him, but I don’t think his performances are better now than before he got the break. Hopefully because of this break it will give him even more consistent performances in February, March and April as well.”
Mac Allister has played 26 games for Liverpool in all competitions this season, contributing with three goals and three assists. The Argentina international provided an assist in the last game against Manchester United which resulted in an unfortunate draw.
Nevertheless, the 26-year-old delivered a sensational overall performance, influencing both the defensive and offensive side of the game for Liverpool. According to Squawka, Mac Allister made 100% accurate passes in the final third with 12 attempts, creating two big chances.

The Argentinian won seven duels, and two tackles along with winning the possession six times for the Reds at Anfield. Furthermore, he had five touches in the opposition box along with four shots and three successful take-on during the game.
Mac Allister has more room for improvement despite his outstanding consistency and influence in the first team. Hopefully, his teammates can continue to match Mac Allister’s dedicated performance and avoid any complacency from now onwards.
