Jurgen Klopp bats for Liverpool trio to commit to Anfield future

Liverpool are in a tricky situation with the contract situation of key players Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, given all of the aforementioned trio is doubted to remain at Anfield beyond this season given ongoing contract problems, and former Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has expressed his hope they choose to continue at L4.
All of the above-mentioned players have their contracts set to expire at the end of the ongoing 2024/25 campaign, and despite months of negotiations, it always feels like no progress has been made with any of them. Now we are at a stage where their futures have now become a topic among the papers in the ongoing January transfer window and the fact that it would affect Arne Slot’s push to maintain consistency for the second half of the season.
Klopp reserve high praise for Salah

And speaking during his unveiling as Red Bull’s new Head of Global Soccer, Klopp was again high in praise for the Egyptian messiah about his contributions to Liverpool, both on and off the pitch. The German said (via. Liverpool.com):
“I hope he [Salah] stays. He is the biggest striker Liverpool has had in modern times. Obviously there were other good strikers. Fantastic player, fantastic human being. Outstanding athlete. The best ambassador your country could have, fantastic in all departments. So I hope he stays at Liverpool.”
Salah has broken records playing under Klopp. The ex-Chelsea man has established himself as one of the best players in the world under the German’s tutelage. And any potential departure is a huge cause for concern among the Kop.
And about VVD & Trent? What did say?

Klopp was also asked about Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold, as Slot’s predecessor admitted to feeling good with not being in charge of these situations anymore.
Klopp continued:
“I am so happy that I am not in charge of that situation and have to answer these questions. Why should I do that now? So, Good luck. From my point of view I would love all of them to extend their contracts. But I don’t know. They haven’t told me. I could text them now and ask.”
Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold have been instrumental in Liverpool’s success during Klopp’s time at the Merseysiders as well, with both regarded among the best in their respective positions in world football.
