Liverpool have been performing above expectations this season, becoming the team to fear with just two losses so far. While the transfer window is nearing its end, unfortunately there have been no updates on any players arriving. Napoli are reportedly interested in signing Nunez, with sources suggesting that his time at Anfield may be coming to an end.

Núñez, who came off the bench to score a crucial brace in the win over Brentford to maintain their title charge, has had a frustrating season, making limited appearances. It was one of the few highlights for the Uruguayan striker, who has started just seven of 16 Premier League games under Arne Slot, having lost his regular place in the starting lineup.

Napoli keeping their tabs on the Uruguayan

Ever since his arrival from Benfica in 2022, has struggled to make any significant impact for the Reds. With 125 appearances and only 60 goal contributions to his name, who once had an impressive record with the Portuguese club hasn’t yet arrived to Merseyside. Now finding himself to be falling behind Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo in the pecking order, Núñez’s days at the club may be numbered.

According to Fichajes, Antonio Conte has identified Núñez as the ideal player to help jump Napoli’s title aspirations. Following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s departure to Paris Saint-Germain for €70 million (£59 million), Conte is keen to use the funds from that sale to secure a deal for the powerful forward.

Liverpool are not willing to let Núñez go cheaply. With interest from the Saudi Pro League, the Reds are in a strong position to demand a fair price. Reports suggest Liverpool rejected a £70 million offer from Saudi giants Al-Hilal earlier this month, with Núñez still having over three years left on his contract.

While a deal for Núñez seems unlikely, as the striker, even if not performing at his peak, has consistently shown glimpses of his immense potential. It also appears that Conte may not pursue another striker, having already secured his personal favourite, Romelu Lukaku.
