Many believed Liverpool to fall away under the transition period that would ensue after the legendary Jurgen Klopp announced he’d leave the club.

Well, one could argue they are technically in transition now, but hardly anyone could have envisaged things would turn out as well as they have; the Reds have picked up under Arne Slot essentially where they left under Klopp.

Slot’s regime is not a congruent one to Klopp’s, however, as he has already established some things to be done differently. He’s recently explained one such change.

There are many things new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot does differently than his predecessor, Jurgen Klopp. Suffice it to say, they have been working thus far.

One of such things is letting his players sleep at their own homes before a game; Klopp insisted on having his players sleep together at a hotel.

The Dutchman has recently explained his decision.

“I can’t compare with how it is. People tell me – and people tell me who know better – that you always sleep better in your own bed than a hotel bed.

“Sleep is a very important part of getting the best possible performance. It is not only the argument that they are at home with their families but also that they are better prepared for a game. If you use common sense you know you sleep better in your own bed than a hotel bed.”

The Reds remain in the hunt for an unprecedented quadruple, having come back from a goal down last night to dispatch Tottenham 4-0 at home in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie and setting up a Wembley date with Newcastle United in March.

Up next for Slot and Co is an FA Cup fourth-round affair against Championship side Plymouth Argyle on Sunday. In the league, their next game will be the postponed Merseyside Derby in the midweek.

TKT Opinion

Every manager, humans as they are, has their own quirk, their set of likes and dislikes. They are allowed to run away with it as long they’re reasonable as the results favour them.

It’s safe to say that Klopp’s results favoured him, just as Slot’s results are favouring him now, so he can slowly do away with all of his predecessor’s traditions if he wants to as long as he can deliver comparable levels of success to the club.
