Liverpool may make a move for Premier League striker to replace Darwin Nunez- Ben Jacobs
Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Brighton’s Joao Pedro are potential options for Liverpool to replace Darwin Nunez
Liverpool have been sensational this season and currently enjoy a 13-point lead at the summit of the Premier League despite only signing Federico Chiesa from Juventus last summer. The club used the season for head coach Arne Slot to assess the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds have started putting plans in place for the summer transfer window. Arne Slot could potentially lose all three superstars—Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold at the end of the campaign—which would leave the club chiefs with the task of replacing them adequately before the 2025/26 season commences.
Special focus could be put on reinforcing the attacking unit. For some time now, Salah’s future has been up in the air, while the Merseysiders are willing to cash in on Darwin Nunez when the transfer window reopens. Nunez’s move to Saudi Arabia was blocked in January but the club appears open to letting him leave at the conclusion of the ongoing season.

As a result, Liverpool are looking at potential options to replace the Uruguayan. Speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, chief correspondent Ben Jacobs has revealed that the Reds have Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Brighton’s Joao Pedro as options to bolster their attack should they allow Nunez to leave.
“They’re just planning and things will ramp up in the coming months. If the direction of travel suggests, as is very possible at this stage, that Darwin Nunez will leave the club, then you’ll suddenly start to see Liverpool crystallise a number nine,” Ben Jacobs exclusively told GIVEMESPORT.
“So Isak could be one to watch, but nothing advanced in it yet. And keep an eye on Joao Pedro as well.”
Alexander Isak, who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool over the last few weeks, is enjoying a phenomenal season with Newcastle. He has netted 19 goals in just 24 Premier League appearances while also adding five assists. The Swede is a complete forward, bringing a lot more than just goals and assists. The Magpies’ talisman is excellent with his hold up and link-up play too, making his profile the perfect fit in Slot’s fluid system.

Meanwhile, Joao Pedro has thrived as more of a false 9 under Fabian Hurzeler at Brighton this season, registering seven goals and six assists in 21 league appearances. The Brazilian, like Isak, can operate in multiple attacking roles, is technically and tactically strong and is brilliant at link-up play. So, he would also potentially be a smart fit at Liverpool.

At the end of the day, it will all come down to the finances and availability of players. Given how impressive Slot’s Liverpool have been in his first season, players from Europe should be excited to join the club if we come calling.
Isak appears to be the Reds’ primary target to fortify the forward line, but if we fail to land him, then Pedro would be a great and cheaper alternative to consider.
