Liverpool join the race to land prodigious Bundesliga attacker
Liverpool looking to bolster squad by trying to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund
Liverpool are one of several clubs that are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Gittens. The 20-year-old is having an exceptional season for the German club and it is very likely that he will be on the move in the summer.
Gittens has been a shining light for Dortmund in what has been a very dismal campaign. The England U-21 international has registered 11 goals and four assists in 36 games in all competitions and has made the left-wing spot his own.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Jamie Gittens prefers to move to England. This is encouraging news for Liverpool fans as the young forward will be a perfect replacement for Luiz Diaz.
Borussia Dortmund will be forced to sell the talented winger if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Sky Sports also reported that the German club will ask for around 100 million Euros, but it is also likely that they will settle for less if they don’t finish the season on a high.
When asked about Gittens, Borussia Dortmund Managing Director Lars Ricken said,
“You can tell he’s frustrated. But in the end, it’s about the team and Jamie knows that too. He is still incredibly important for the club, has made himself a difference player.”
Liverpool will not go for the youngster if they are unable to sell a few players. This makes it unlikely that the Reds will end up signing the 20-year-old.
Will he suit into Liverpool’s system?
Jamie Gittens will be a perfect player for Arne Slot’s side. The young winger is known for his pace and elite ball-carrying ability. Gittens currently plays at a counter-attacking team, and this is something which Arne Slot relies upon in many games.

The young winger is also quick in transitions, can cross the ball well and has the ability to dance through defenders. Liverpool rely heavily on Luiz Diaz to do that consistently on the left-wing. However, a further addition of Jamie Gittens will make the attack look unstoppable.

Gittens is also a relentless presser in the final third and tends to drop back to help the left back whenever needed. He can play on both wings and is suited for a team that plays a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1. Signing Jamie Gittens will automatically elevate Liverpool’s attack and make it the best attack in Europe. Arne Slot will also get an immensely talented player under his ranks and will try to develop the England U-21 international’s game.
