Liverpool fights top PL rivals to sign goal machine to replace struggling forwards

Liverpool are ready to battle several top Premier League clubs to sign Lille star Jonathan David as a free agent. The 25-year-old’s current contract with the French club expires at the end of the ongoing season, inviting several big clubs.
David has played a pivotal role for Lille, which is currently third in the Ligue 1 table after 31 games. The Canadian international is also an important part of the international setup for his country, featuring regularly and scoring goals.
David’s technique, dribbling and ability to exploit the tight spaces in the final third are his strengths as a forward. However, the 25-year-old’s work ethic in overall involvement is low, and he lacks the versatility to play elsewhere for Lille.

The 25-year-old has made 46 appearances for Lille in all competitions, scoring 25 goals and providing 11 assists this season. Despite the incredible tally from David, a potential jump to the Premier League is a completely different challenge for forwards.
According to RMC Sport (via Fichajes), Liverpool are among the other top Premier League clubs that want to sign David from Lille as a free agent during the summer transfer window. The other Premier League clubs involved are Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
Liverpool needs to reshuffle their attacking department to avoid the repeat of certain recurring problems at the club. The Reds suffered elimination from the Champions League and lost the Carabao Cup final in March due to those problems.
When Liverpool’s prolific legend, Mohamed Salah, struggles, the remaining players have failed to properly back him and take the initiative. The same issue happened last season under Jurgen Klopp when Liverpool’s drastic drop in form cost them several trophies.
Darwin Nunez has failed to establish himself under Arne Slot this season, continuing to struggle in front of the goal. Meanwhile, Diogo Jota has also struggled with consistency and persistently failed to influence the game outside of the opposition box.

At 25 years of age, David is operating at the peak of his career, and if he can keep up with the Premier League’s pace, he could potentially add more to Liverpool than Jota. At the same time, Liverpool would need two forwards if they opt to sell both of their struggling stars, making a potential free agent a smart business.
