Saudi Pro League club ready to accept £70m demand from Liverpool
Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal rekindled their interest in Liverpool star Darwin Nunez, hoping to sign him permanently this summer. Al-Hilal approached Liverpool in the January transfer window to sign Nunez, but failed to sign the Uruguayan at that time.
Liverpool wanted to keep all the players in January amid their intense Premier League title chase, along with other competitions. However, things have changed as Arne Slot intends to reshuffle the squad he inherited from the legendary manager Jurgen Klopp.
Slot used last season to assess the squad he acquired, and wants to use this summer to add his vision. Nunez played as an impact player last season, struggling to break into the strong Liverpool squad due to his inconsistencies.

While the 26-year-old has faced a lot of criticism since joining Liverpool, he is neither a hit nor a flop. The Uruguayan international has 40 goals and provided 26 assists from 143 appearances for the Reds, showcasing his important contributions.
The Kop Times previously covered that Liverpool are demanding a price of around £70m for Nunez, which ended Napoli’s interest. According to Liverpool Echo, Al-Hillal are ready to make an offer around the Reds’ demand, as the new boss, Simone Inzaghi, wants Nunez from Liverpool this summer.
With the World Cup 2026 commencing next summer, it is wise for the Uruguayan international to make a move. If Nunez stays at Liverpool, he will find it hard to feature regularly under Slot, judging by what happened last season.
Despite the criticism, the 26-year-old is a cult favourite at the club for his honest emotions and hard working nature. It is tough for both the fans and the player to accept that things have not worked as they had hoped when he arrived.
However, Nunez has immense talent that he could still fulfil, while Liverpool have to focus on next season. While parting ways is mutually beneficial, Nunez will always have a full support and blessings from the Merseyside fans.
