Despite the World Cup buzz, the transfer market continues to grab headlines.

English heavyweights constantly battle for the best young prospects in the United Kingdom. Arsenal just won a massive race off the pitch. The London side are set to agree terms to bring 15-year-old Larne goalkeeper Phoenix Blayney to the capital. They beat out intense competition from Liverpool and Nottingham Forest to secure his signature.

The Northern Irish club is due a modest training compensation fee for their academy product. Blayney will initially sign a pre-contract agreement. He is scheduled to put pen to paper on professional terms when he officially turns seventeen in November 2027. His father, Alan, recently outlined the entire situation during a chat with the Belfast Telegraph.

Proud father confirms professional agreement as highly rated teenager chooses North London over Merseyside

“Everything has been agreed with Arsenal, he just needs to sign the contract,” his father explained. He confirmed the move is essentially completed and just waiting for the right moment to be finalized. Missing out on the talented shot stopper is a bitter pill for the Merseyside recruitment team to swallow.

Liverpool pushed incredibly hard for the teenager. Blayney even toured their training setup recently. Onlookers even spotted him wearing a red training top while sitting in the Anfield stands. However, the proposal from the Gunners completely blew their rivals out of the water.

His father described the London offer as “the shining light” among his options. A highly successful trial period at the Emirates really sealed the deal. The young keeper quickly bonded with the coaching staff and felt completely at home in that specific environment.

Liverpool usually excels at capturing elite youth talent. They successfully poached Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea recently with spectacular results. The explosive attacker shattered goalscoring records at Anfield and recently earned a senior England cap from Thomas Tuchel against New Zealand. Arsenal are now hoping Blayney can trace a similarly spectacular path to the very top.
