According to Mirror, Liverpool has agreed with Schalke to sign Joel Matip on a free transfer deal. The news report states that the deal is finalized and the player will be moving to Anfield at the end of the season.
Matip had been pursued by Liverpool for a few months now and the 24 year old has finally agreed the terms which had caused the deal to be protracted all this time. He has made over 230 appearances for Schalke and also a regular player for the Cameroon National team. The defender is believed to being brought in to challenge the likes of Sakho and Lovren in the current team.
Liverpool had also completed the signing of Caulker recently from QPR on loan. Once his loan expires at Anfield, Matip is expected to make the entry. It being a free transfer would say that Liverpool got a decent deal with Matip and Caulker both.
