Xherdan Shaqiri isn’t concerned about how many goals he scores and wants to help Liverpool do well. The Swiss star started in our 2-0 win over Fulham and scored a wonderful volley after Mohamed Salah opened the scoring.
The 26-year-old was pleased with his finish and told Liverpool’s website:
“The [kind of] impact is not so important for me. I want to help the team.
“When it’s with a goal or assist, it’s always good for the team. I came in the summer to help this team go forward and make the process better.
“I’m very happy with my performances, I just have to keep going like this and train hard every day. I hope we keep going until the end like this.”
Although the former Stoke City star hasn’t started many games for Liverpool, the stats are pretty decent for the 26-year-old.
The attacker already has two goals and three assists from four starts, and his performances should put forward his case of starting more games.
The Swiss attacker was the cheapest transfer we made in the summer, but he looks a quality purchase now.
Jurgen Klopp changed his formation to fit Shaqiri into the starting XI against Fulham. However, the Swiss star was the X Factor in our win over the Cottagers, and hopefully, he keeps getting the starts after the international break too.
