The international break might have given Liverpool a boost ahead of their all-important Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds play the French team after the weekend’s clash against Watford and a couple of their stars picked up knocks while on international duty.

The Guardian reports that Neymar had to be taken off after hurting his groin in the friendly against Cameroon.

The team’s doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, claimed the injury wasn’t serious but scans had to be done. He was quoted (h/t Guardian) saying:

“He came off complaining of pain.

“He felt a discomfort, he will need a bit more time to evaluate it and take a scan, but in principle it is not a serious injury.“

The other player picking up an injury was Kylian Mbappe. The French attacker scored in our 3-2 win over PSG at Anfield and had to be taken off before half-time in France’s 1-0 win over Uruguay.

The report claims that Mbappe fell on his right shoulder after a tussle with the South American goalkeeper Marin Campana.

Liverpool know a win Paris would be enough to take them through to the next round without worrying about the final group game clash against Napoli.

The Reds were brilliant in the 3-2 win over PSG a few weeks ago, and if we repeat that performance, the three points should be in the bag.

Should PSG miss these two stars on Wednesday, Liverpool should start as favourites. However, nothing should be taken for granted in the Champions League after our embarrassing 2-0 defeat to Red Star Belgrade.
