Liverpool conceded a Harry Maguire goal which cancelled Sadio Mane’s opener in the game against Leicester City. The Reds had a chance of opening up a seven-point gap on Manchester City, however, we had to be content with five after the draw.
This was seen as a missed chance to put some breathing space between us and the Premier League champions, however, Jurgen Klopp was positive about the draw against the Foxes.
Speaking after the game, Klopp claimed he had no problems accepting the result, and that Liverpool cannot beat every side in the Premier League (h/t BT Sport).
The German further claimed that he was disappointed with the result, but that he wasn’t relating this with Manchester City’s loss to Newcastle United. The manager added that the team wasn’t talking much about City, and now we have a point more than before:
“But then we have to talk about what does it mean for the Man City thing? Not too much to be honest.
“We have a point more than before. That’s not exactly what we wanted to have, but still everything is fine in the moment.
“Now we have a few days to prepare West Ham, and we go again. Then Bournemouth and we go again.”
Klopp is right in trying to paint a positive picture, and Liverpool weren’t against easy opposition either. Leicester had already beaten Manchester City and Chelsea this season, while we had some problems with the defence.
The pitch wasn’t in a great state due to the snow, while the referee made a couple of poor calls which should have gone our way.
The Reds still hold a five-point lead over City, which is fantastic, and it will be important for us to win the next game which is against West Ham on Monday.
