Latest Liverpool transfer news: Reds interested in Blackburn’s rising star John Buckley
Teamtalk (h/t Liverpool Echo) reports that Liverpool are interested in 19-year-old Blackburn Rovers midfielder John Buckley.
The youngster has impressed for Rovers in the Premier League 2 this season and has one goal and one assist from 15 games but the midfielder is yet to make a senior appearance for the side.
The English starlet has risen up the ranks at the club who he joined when he was just six. The 19-year-old plays mostly as a deep-lying midfielder, though he has had some minutes on the right of the midfield too.
The youngster has also attracted attention from Manchester United and Everton, according to the report, and has a contract at Ewood Park till 2020.
The report adds that Blackburn are interested in opening contract talks with the highly-rated youngster.
Liverpool have options in midfield currently
Although Buckley isn’t the finished article and needs time to develop into a better player, the Reds have several options in the midfield at the moment.
Summer signings Naby Keita and Fabinho have done well in recent weeks while Jordan Henderson put on a clinic against Bayern Munich in the 0-0 draw.
The Reds have provided opportunities to young players in the first-team with Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold becoming starters for us this season.

Buckley has a lot of time on his hands, and it will be interesting to see how he progresses at Rovers for now.
