Latest Liverpool news: Andy Robertson tells Liverpool to respect themselves after recent draws
Liverpool played out their second 0-0 draw in succession, this time at Old Trafford. The Reds were held to a goal-less draw against Bayern Munich a few days ago.
Although the Reds couldn’t break through either defence, Andy Robertson believes that both giants changed their game plan to stifle Jurgen Klopp’s men while speaking to the club’s website (h/t Guardian):
“Big teams like Bayern and Manchester United are full of world-class stars and they changed their way of playing to try to stop us.”
The Scot further believed the Reds have to step and show why the other teams are also respecting them:
“We need to take that as a mark of respect and not shy away from it, stand up to that and show them why there is respect. These big teams are showing us respect but maybe we need to start respecting ourselves.”
Robertson laments lack of cutting edge at Old Trafford
The defender further spoke about how four substitutions in the first half at Old Trafford affected the team’s momentum.
However, Robertson was certain that the Reds should have played with more intensity before claiming they should have gotten more from Manchester United.
The point was enough to see us return to the top of the table, and now there is no margin for error.
Pep Guardiola’s men have been on a rampage in recent weeks, and picked up the Carabao Cup on penalties at the weekend.
