Liverpool FC transfer news: Danny Murphy sees Adrien Rabiot playing for Liverpool
Adrien Rabiot could be the biggest free agent at the end of this season. The Frenchman won’t sign a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain and is free to leave in the summer.
The Daily Star reports that Barcelona have been heavily linked with the 23-year-old but Murphy claimed he would not be surprised if the Frenchman is a Red next season.
Speaking to SportingBet, the former Liverpool midfielder claimed Rabiot is a quality footballer and could be the missing link for the Reds (h/t Daily Star):
“I wouldn’t be surprised if we see him in a Liverpool shirt next season.
“It’s potentially the one area that Liverpool are missing since [Philippe] Coutinho went to Barcelona and he is a very attractive proposition on a free transfer.”
The Englishman added that Jurgen Klopp could think Rabiot provides a different midfield outlet compared to the other stars we have at Liverpool.
Not certain of his athletic ability
Murphy, however, provided a word of warning as he wasn’t sure about Rabiot’s athletic ability of his tenacity to fit into a Klopp team.
The former Red claimed the Frenchman was similar to Adam Lallana due to his quick feet but lamented that the Englishman hasn’t received a lot of playing time this season.
Rabiot could be a decent signing for the Reds, especially if he comes on a free, but he mostly plays in a deeper role rather than an attacking one.
The Reds have Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and James Milner who play deep, while Georginio Wijnaldum and Naby Keita can perform in that position too.
