Latest Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp fine with chasing Manchester City in the Premier League
Jurgen Klopp cut a defiant figure for Liverpool after their 0-0 draw against Everton on Sunday.
The point kept Manchester City at the top of the Premier League while we trail them by one point. There are still nine games left in the season and Klopp claimed he was alright chasing City (h/t BBC):
“Who wants to be top of the table at the beginning of March? It is nice but there are lots of games to play.”
The German then highlighted how City were a little lucky to win against Bournemouth:
“I’m completely fine with chasing.
“I watched Match of the Day last night and saw the celebrations of Man City – they had 900 chances and scored one goal, a shot with the wrong foot.”
The point would be considered a good result in normal circumstances but recent draws against Manchester United, West Ham and Leicester have seen us lose a massive advantage that we had over City.
Pickford stands tall
Jordan Pickford atoned for his mistake from the previous derby by making one immense save from Mohamed Salah this time. The Egyptian was through on goal but the Everton keeper kept the forward’s shot from going in.
Klopp claimed we were the better side on the night and added that Pickford and the Everton defence stopped us from scoring.
The German further spoke about the point being a good result:
“Not perfect but good enough – getting a point from Everton is always a success because it is our most difficult away game of the season.”
