Latest Liverpool news: Some fans back Virgil van Dijk slamming Everton’s celebrations after 0-0 draw
Liverpool and Everton played out a feisty 0-0 draw at Goodison Park, which has dented our hopes of landing the Premier League title.
The Reds had the best of chances with Mohamed Salah having an off-night. However, we didn’t really create a lot of opportunities for our forwards.
The front three, with Roberto Firmino coming on in the final 30 minutes, looked a little flat but our defence was outstanding.
Our midfield controlled the game well but there was no creative spark from the trio playing there. Joel Matip did a great job at the back but the star of the show was Virgil van Dijk.
The Dutchman kept Everton at bay, and didn’t put a foot wrong in the derby.
Van Dijk not impressed by Everton
The Dutchman featured alongside club captain Jordan Henderson in a post-match interview. Van Dijk wasn’t happy about the result and added that Everton’s celebrations spoke volumes.
“It says a lot that in the end they’re celebrating a 0-0”.

Van Dijk has been incredible for us since signing from Southampton, and he has only improved with more games under his belt.
The result wasn’t great and we now sit one point behind Manchester City in the table. Van Dijk has to continue playing in this form to give us any chance of overhauling the Cityzens.
Some Liverpool fans reacted to this comment and had a go at Everton too, calling out their mentality.
Virgil van Dijk: “I think it says it all that they’re celebrating a 0-0.”

They stopped us going top. Of course they would celebrate.

Same as man utd. Small clubs do this so it’s expected. You draw with Liverpool at home and it feels like you have won the world cup for these small teams.

ANOTHER CLEAN SHEET, still only one league defeat and still a lot to play for #YNWA

@VirgilvDijk will end up being the greatest captain the club has ever seen

As Rafa would say, small club mentality!
