Latest Liverpool news: Fans react as John Aldridge rips into Stan Collymore for linking Virgil van Dijk to Manchester City
Former Liverpool star John Aldridge let rip at another former player for his column on Virgil van Dijk.
Stan Collymore shared his views on Liverpool defender Van Dijk and claimed Manchester City should break the bank and sign him.
Aldridge was not having any of the Man City links to the Dutch defender and even called out Collymore for “poor journalism”.
Van Dijk has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season, and is possibly the best defender in the league.
Poor journalism from an ex LFC player!who should know that for Liverpool to sell VVD to anyone, never mind man city(for stones Otemendi and 175m 😂)would be football suicide!!They also haven’t the pull of a Barca or R M !!Klopps building not demolishing. Our Future Captain Also 👍 pic.twitter.com/7jAwZQ1zbe

Liverpool and Van Dijk are set to achieve great things
Aldridge even stated that Van Dijk could be a future captain, and the 27-year-old has proved his leadership skills at the back.
Although Collymore is right in suggesting that the Dutchman would make any defence better in the world, it is a bit of a stretch suggesting we would do business with City.
Liverpool have the best defence in the Premier League and we are on the up. The Reds are battling City for the Premier League crown, just one point behind the leaders while we are still in the Champions League.
Van Dijk is a player that makes everyone around him better, and he will get better with more games under his belt.
The 27-year-old feels like a proper Red, and many supporters were on Aldridge’s side.
Well said Aldo 👍

Attention seeking from Stan again, now there’s a surprise 🙄

When he had a chance to join them, in the summer, he decided to stay at Southampton, waiting for Liverpool to buy him. Why we should be concerned about City now???

It’d be cheaper for them to buy Everton

Very poor journalism . The fact he already turned city and Chelsea down tells a story in itself. Klopp is building. Side to compete and some don’t like it so try and throw spanner in the works. If he did go one year it’ll be abroad to a real or Barcelona ( for the lifestyle )

It’s almost as if he wants all of us to be depressed too

It is disappointing to see but all part of media over reaction and anything about LFC sells.
Your negative speech pre Watford was also disappointing— Gary Holden (@GaryHolden7) March 5, 2019
They (city) would need to go into their overdraft & then WE (lfc) would still say “NO! YNWA👌💪
