Latest Liverpool news: Eric Dier injured ahead of Liverpool-Tottenham game
England came out 5-0 winners over the Czech Republic in their opening Euro 2020 qualifier but it came at a cost.
The BBC reports that Eric Dier picked up a muscle injury in the win. The Tottenham midfielder was initially tackled in the 13th minute by Tomas Soucek and had to be replaced by Ross Barkley after 26 minutes of the game.
The report adds that the Englishman will not feature in the next game against Montenegro and will return to Tottenham for further treatment.
Tottenham’s next game in the Premier League is against Liverpool at Anfield, and it will be interesting to see if the midfielder recovers for the clash.
Tottenham and Liverpool need the points
Liverpool have to be wary of the threat posed by Spurs. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have one of the best strikers in the world in Harry Kane, and the England captain found the back of the net in the game against the Czech Republic.
The Reds came out winners in the previous encounter this season but Tottenham are also in need of points.
Spurs are involved in a scrap for a top-four finish, while we need to keep Manchester City at bay. The Cityzens trail us by a couple of points but have played one game less in the Premier League.

Liverpool cannot afford to drop points in their chase for the league title and hopefully, we beat Spurs at Anfield.
