Liverpool FC transfer news: Lyon willing to sell Liverpool target Depay
The Manchester Evening News reports that Liverpool have been linked with Lyon attacker Memphis Depay. The former Manchester United star joined Lyon after a tough spell in England and has thrived in France.
The 25-year-old scored 12 goals and provided nine assists for the Ligue 1 side this season, and is a regular for the Dutch national side.
However, insiders have told the Manchester Evening News that the right offer for Depay could see the Dutch international leave Lyon.
The attacker is contracted at Lyon until 2021 and his resale value could reduce if he leaves next season, according to the report.
Liverpool to land another attacker?
The Reds have an excellent attack, with Roberto Firmino leading the line. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are possibly the two best wingers in the Premier League and it will be interesting to see if we make a move for Depay.
The 25-year-old would have to fight for his place in the starting XI and there is no guarantee he can replace any of our attackers under Klopp.
Further, the Dutch attacker didn’t impress many during his time at Old Trafford and he would be a risky signing for Klopp.
The report claims that United inserted a buy-back clause ranging from £16m to £21m but it doesn’t look like Man United would use that option to take him back to Old Trafford.

Liverpool don’t have many game changers on their bench and Depay could also play some of the ties where Salah or Mane are rested.
