Liverpool FC transfer news: Jamie O’Hara backs Liverpool to move for Christian Eriksen

Tottenham star Christian Eriksen is ready for a new challenge as he spoke after the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League final.

The 27-year-old is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and has helped Spurs become a top-four club under Mauricio Pochettino.

Christian Eriksen

The Dane scored 10 goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions for Spurs last season and is on the final year of his contract.

Eriksen has been linked with a move to Juventus and Real Madrid (h/t Calciomercato), however, former Tottenham star Jamie O’Hara believes Liverpool could do with the Dane’s services.

O’Hara told Sky Sports News (h/t Liverpool Echo) that the Reds could make a move for the 27-year-old:

“[Liverpool] need a central midfield player. I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that they might try and take Eriksen from Tottenham as he’s in the last year on his deal. He’s the type of player they need.”

Signing Eriksen would be a coup given his creative talent, and he would provide Jurgen Klopp with more options in the midfield.

The Reds don’t have an all-out attacking/creative midfielder, though Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could play that role.

However, the Dane is more adept in this role, and it will be interesting to see where he could end up next season.

Levy will make things tough

The Liverpool Echo adds that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy likes to drive a hard bargain, and it would be a surprise if our rivals let Eriksen join a Premier League club.
