The report claims that Ajax and Bayern Munich were interested in signing the teenager, however, Liverpool have convinced the centre-back to join them.

Italian side Sampdoria failed to sign Van der Berg for £2.25m in the January window, but with the defender entering the final year of his deal, Liverpool have stolen the march on the Bavarian and Dutch giants (h/t Telegraph).

Sepp needs time to acclimatising at Anfield

The report adds that Van der Berg is one of the brightest talents in the Eredivisie, and is expected to spend one year acclimatising and learning about the club.

The 17-year-old should be our first signing of this summer, and the report claims that the defender could try to break into the first-team in a year or so.

Van der Berg seems to be a smart signing for the future, and it will be interesting to see his development in the coming years. The Reds have a great defence at the moment and have seen youngsters such as Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold break into the first-team.
