Liverpool FC transfer news: Reds linked with Forster and Fraser as possible signings

The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool could do with a goalkeeper, forward and a left-back in the summer.

The Reds have made just two signings in the summer with Sepp van den Berg and Harvey Elliott joining the club.

The pair have played in some of our pre-season games, but there have been no major signings so far in the summer.

However, the Daily Mail claims that the Reds want to sign Fraser Forster of Southampton and Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser.

The report lists out Junior Firpo and Israel Salazar as two players from Spain that we are interested in but it is the Premier League pair that has caught the eye.

Do Liverpool need the pair?

Fraser was one of the best players for Eddie Howe last season. The Scottish international scored seven goals and provided 14 assists in the Premier League campaign.

The 25-year-old could be a decent addition to the side but he would not start games regularly. The Scot would be cover for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, but we already have Harry Wilson and Elliott who can do that job.

Trying Wilson and Elliott for the next season would be a smarter option than spending big on Fraser while Forster would be back-up to Alisson.

However, the Reds still have Simon Mignolet as the No.2 and it would be a surprise if the Belgian leaves so close to the start of the season.

Forster also didn’t play too many games for the Saints last season, and it could be better to use a younger goalkeeper as the No.3 behind Mignolet and Alisson.
