Liverpool FC transfer news: Reds interested in signing Lille youngster
Foot Mercato (h/t Liverpool Echo) reports that Liverpool are one of several clubs interested in signing Jean-Pierre Longonda.
The 17-year-old Lille midfielder has attracted the attention of many clubs across Europe and has done a great job for the academy side.
German giants Schalke are also keen on signing Longonda while Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in the 17-year-old (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Longonda’s preferred position is in a defensive role but he can play as a centre-back too. The 17-year-old Belgian could be the next big star from Lille, with the French giants producing talents such as Divock Origi and Eden Hazard in recent years.
Liverpool are planning for the future
The Reds made no big signings this summer and instead bought two players who have tons of potential.
Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg are yet to feature for the first-team this season, but they are two of the brightest talents in the world.
The Reds should be on the lookout for quality young talent as they could unearth the next gem. Liverpool have a great first XI and it makes sense to sign players who could become starters in a few years.
