Latest Liverpool news: Keita and Alisson on special recovery programmes

The Liverpool Echo claims that Alisson and Naby Keita are on special training schedules to speed up their recovery process during the international break.

Keita has been out of action since the Community Shield substitute appearance, while Alisson had to be replaced in the opening game of the season.

The midfielder looked lively in the loss to Manchester City, however, the report claims that the Guinea midfielder has a “muscle issue in the hip area”.

Keita has had his problems with fitness since joining the Reds last season and ended the campaign carrying a knock.

The midfielder couldn’t play in the Champions League final and picked up a problem in the Africa Cup of Nations too.

Alisson, for his part, injured his calf in the win over Norwich and has seen Adrian take over. The Spanish keeper has steadily improved this season and kept his first clean sheet against Burnley last weekend.

The former West Ham keeper is a great shot-stopper, however, he isn’t as good as Alisson when it comes to playing with the ball at his feet.

No return dates for the duo

The pair has the international break to continue rehab but the Liverpool Echo didn’t share a date for their return.

Our next game is against Newcastle before our Champions League campaign starts, and it would be great if Alisson makes a return soon.

Keita hasn’t been missed as much, thanks to the return of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but we will need his services once our schedule features midweek games.
