Liverpool to land Timo Werner if Erling Haaland moves to RB Leipzig
According to the Independent, the transfer of Erling Haaland to RB Leipzig is set to benefit Liverpool as much as Leipzig.
The transfer could clear the way for Liverpool to sign German international Timo Werner from Leipzig.
Werner has been in top form this season and has scored 23 goals in 24 appearances for Leipzig.
With the German side pursuing Haaland, they would have an equally prolific, if not better, replacement in the Norwegian.
Haaland has played 22 times for RB Salzburg this season and plundered 28 goals, including 8 in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Leipzig have confirmed that they have made an offer for Haaland and that the decision now rests on the player (h/t Daily Mail).
Haaland’s buy out clause of £20m would be a bargain if Leipzig can get their man. Interest in Haaland is high, with fellow Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and English giants Manchester United interested in signing him (h/t Daily Mail).
Reinforcements for Title push
Liverpool currently find themselves at the top of the English Premier League with a healthy 10-point lead over Leicester City.
With the Takumi Minamino transfer all but done, the addition of Werner would provide us with an added dimension in the attack.
Werner can also write himself into Liverpool folklore if he is part of a squad that finally ends the wait for a league title.
