Last few days saw Liverpool linked heavily with Newcastle player Georginio Wijnaldum, to the extent that the transfer was expected to be completed within a few days time, however reports circulating last evening has different story to tell.
According to the reports Liverpool and Newcastle both need to reach an agreement on the transfer fee which has held up the player’s move to the Anfield. The Reds are willing to pay £20m for the player, who moved to Newcastle last summer in a deal worth £14.5m, however the Magpies are demanding a higher transfer fee of £27m.
Further the Reds now have an option of bringing the player into the Anfield if they send a player to Newcastle on an exchange deal to bring in Wijnaldum. If reports are to believed then the Reds may end up sending Lucas to Newcastle and this may be a tempting offer for the player who will get a chance to get reunited with the man who brought him to the Anfield in the first place.
