Jurgen Klopp provides injury update on Jordan Henderson
Liverpool will hope that the injury suffered by captain Jordan Henderson is not serious. The Reds skipper limped off the pitch on the 80th-minute mark in the 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
The 29-year-old walked off the field by himself and headed straight down the tunnel to receive treatment. Jurgen Klopp has, however, stated that the midfielder’s withdrawal was merely a precaution. This will come as music to Liverpool fans’ ears.
The midfielder will now undergo further tests after Klopp confirmed that the player faced an issue with his hamstring. The German went on to confirm that Henderson was not very concerned about it but saw enough in his predicament to come off.
Speaking to BT Sport (h/t Mirror), the Liverpool manager revealed that we will have to wait to know the extent of Henderson’s injury.
“We have to wait. He was not too concerned but enough to go off obviously.”
Oh captain my captain!
Henderson has been in brilliant form of late and let’s hope that the issue isn’t serious. The 29-year-old has stepped up to lead from the front and has contributed massively to Liverpool’s Premier League campaign.
The midfielder has scored three goals and five assists this season, his best tally for the club since scoring seven and assisting nine in 2014-15. (h/t Whoscored)
