Timo Werner is a target for Liverpool and the Reds could get rid of four senior stars in the summer window
Liverpool could get rid of four senior stars in the summer as Jurgen Klopp eyes some changes in the side, according to the Liverpool Echo (h/t Daily Star).
The Reds looked set to win the Premier League before the league was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Klopp’s men hold a 25-point lead over Manchester City and had lost just one Premier League game all season. While the Reds have been on a tear in England, there are four players that might not have a future at Anfield next season.
The report claims that Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren and Xherdan Shaqiri are on the chopping block. All four have become bit-part players under Klopp, and there could be one major move in the offering too.
Bundesliga star to join Reds?
The Daily Star adds that RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner is a target for the Reds. Although the Reds don’t have financial issues that stop them from making the move, Klopp would be keen on getting rid of some players and bringing in fresh faces.
Clyne hasn’t featured for us since 2018 and Klopp has used Neco Williams in place of Trent Alexander-Arnold in some of the cup games.
The former Southampton star is a free agent in the summer but he isn’t the only one. Lallana scored the all-important equaliser against Manchester United at Old Trafford but is out of a contract in the summer.
The Englishman has struggled for game time and has made a handful of appearances this season. The same goes for Shaqiri, who has struggled with injuries. We signed Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg and the Japanese star could do the Shaqiri role next season.
Finally, Lovren is the one player on the list who has featured several times this season. However, he is the fourth-choice behind Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.
