Raheem Sterling’s representatives refuse to rule out Liverpool return
According to French publication L’Equipe (h/t Daily Mail), former Liverpool star Raheem Sterling could be set to make a spectacular return to Anfield.
It has been five years since he left Anfield for the riches of Manchester City. It was believed that the bridges were well and truly burnt, but it appears we were wrong.
According to the report, one of the player’s representatives has revealed that Sterling has not forgotten the club where he took his first steps at being both a player and a man.
Although there was bad blood between the player and the club after an acrimonious exit, a return has not been ruled out.
“Time has run its course and everything is possible”
A change of guard
Speaking to the BBC (h/t Daily Mail) prior to his departure, he had quoted his desire to win trophies as the primary motivation for forcing the transfer.
The team he left back in 2015 is not the team it is today. Under Jurgen Klopp, the reigning European and World champions have established themselves as one of the best teams in the business. Sterling will find opportunities at glory aplenty if he returns.
It will not be lost on the player that the Reds are on course to topple City as Premier League champions.
Sterling could be one of the players to jump ship following City’s two-year Champions League ban for alleged breach of Financial Fair Play rules. A decision that the club has already appealed.
The player’s relationship with Liverpool fans appears to have improved. He was spotted taking selfies with Reds supporters after the Community Shield match last year. Jurgen Klopp could make a move for the 25-year-old this summer once he is certain of his transfer budget.

Sterling made 129 appearances for Liverpool and scored 23 goals and 25 assists for the club. Interestingly, the player’s agent had mentioned that Jurgen Klopp would be a good fit for Sterling. Five years on, he may get the opportunity to do just that.
