Jurgen Klopp feels Mohamed Salah should get more credit
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has come out in support of his star striker Mohamed Salah, citing that the forward deserves more credit. Salah has often come across as a figure who perhaps does not receive the recognition and applause one would expect, especially after being such a prolific goal-getter. (h/t Echo)
Salah’s last goal against RB Leipzig in the Champions League was his 24th of the season, surpassing last season’s tally with more games to go.
Also, that goal was his 118th in Liverpool colours, all of which have come in 186 appearances. Despite all that, Salah isn’t precisely seen in the same view as most of his peers.
Klopp questioned the whole thing, asking people to question themselves why they didn’t think highly of Salah.
“You don’t have to ask me if or why he doesn’t get the credit. If he doesn’t get the credit, I don’t know. It would be really strange and really unexplainable why he shouldn’t get the credit. He gets the credit here, internally, for sure for all these things.”
He further praised him for his contribution in the Leipzig game.
“He played an outstanding game. He gets all the respect from us. If you don’t give him the right amount of respect, you have to ask yourself why that is the case. The numbers and the performances cannot be the reason.”
