As confirmed by the club’s official website, Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year Award for the year 2020/21.
The Liverpool youngster is the current holder of the award, having won it last year after helping the Reds win their first-ever Premier League title. And, after what has been a topsy-turvy season, Alexander-Arnold finds himself on the six-man shortlist for the PFA honour yet again.
The 2020/21 campaign wasn’t easy for Alexander-Arnold as well as Liverpool. The 22-year-old found the going tough for parts of the season which even resulted in him getting dropped from the England national team during the last international break in March.
However, Alexander-Arnold was integral to Liverpool’s late-season surge that helped the Reds seal a top-three finish and a place in the UEFA Champions League for the next season. The right-back ended the 2020/21 campaign with a more than impressive return of two goals and nine assists from 45 matches in all competitions.
Back in the reckoning for the England national team for the upcoming UEFA Euro 2020, Alexander-Arnold’s efforts have been recognised by his peers as well, with the nomination for the PFA Young Player of the Year gong bearing proof of it.
