Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold speaks out after injury forces him out of England squad for 2020 Euros

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold took to his Twitter account (h/t Liverpool Echo) to reveal that he was ‘gutted’ to miss the England squad for the 2020 UEFA Euros due to an injury.

The Englishman pulled up with an injury in the final minutes of his team’s against Austria earlier this week. Scans after the game revealed that it was a grade two quad tear.

That, of course, requires a recovery period of four to six weeks, hence forcing Trent to withdraw from the England squad. The youngster worked hard to be included in Gareth Southgate’s plans for the summer.

But it seems that it just wasn’t written in the stars. He took to his social media account and posted a photo himself in an England kit with a two-worded caption that said, ‘Absolutely gutted’.

Trent suffers unfortunate blow

The 26-man England squad is now one man short after the Liverpool defender pulled out, with Southgate primed to announce the 22-year-old’s replacement shortly.

Trent’s focus would hereby lie on a rehabilitation programme in order to recover from the injury. He targets to be back by July 12, the day when Liverpool gather to have their first training session of the new season. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
