Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard set to make return to Anfield in pre-season with Rangers
According to This is Anfield (h/t Daily Record), Steven Gerrard is all set to make a return to Liverpool in pre-season as Rangers are set to take on Jurgen Klopp’s men before the next Premier League season officially begins.
Gerrard departed Liverpool in 2015 after 17 years with the senior squad as he joined LA Galaxy in the USA. He is undoubtedly a legend of the club and an individual who will always be adored by Liverpool fans around the world.
And this is why the report of Rangers and Liverpool playing a pre-season friendly match would excite the fans. Anfield saw 10,000 fans attend gameweek 38 of this season’s Premier League at Anfield as Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 2-0 top secure top-4.
Hence, it is said that this pre-season friendly could be used as a tester to try out a full capacity Anfield before the Premier League starts. Gerrard would also not be the only individual returning to his former club if the friendly goes ahead.
Gerrard set for Liverpool return
Backroom staff members Michael Beale and Gary McAllister could revisit Anfield too. Along with them, the match could also see Ryan Kent feature against the club that loaned him out to Rangers in 2018 and then sold him permanently for a £7million fee.
There is no doubt that Liverpool fans would be excited to hear this news. Jurgen Klopp would have to leave the club at some time, whenever that is.
