Transfer Update: Barcelona are preparing a bid for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah
According to Spanish news outlet AS (h/t LiverpoolEcho), Barcelona are plotting a summer move for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.
Mohamed Salah has taken the gap between him and other top Premier League players to the next level this season. He has bagged 20 goals and ten assists in 26 league appearances and continues to lead the club’s scoring charts.
However, despite going from strength to strength at Liverpool, the Egyptian hasn’t signed a contract extension yet. Salah will enter the final year of his contract from next summer, and it could get complicated for Liverpool to hold one of their best players.
It seems the pressure has already started mounting on the Reds’ contingent. It is believed that Spanish giants Barcelona are preparing a bid worth £50m-£58m in the summer transfer window. It seems the Catalan team’s manager Xavi is interested in bringing Salah to Camp Nou.
The Blaugrana are planning to recruit a striker in the next transfer window. Barcelona’s priority is Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. But they are assessing possibilities to lure Mohamed Salah in case their pursuit to sign the Norwegian striker fails.
How can Liverpool stop Salah from leaving?
Mohamed Salah has already become a gigantic figure at Liverpool. As his stature grew, the paychecks also kept rising. But it has come to the point where our board have to pay a fortune to keep such a top player.
Even though paying an astronomical number could create tension in the dressing room, very few people could argue that Salah doesn’t deserve such a payment after what he has done for the club in the last five years.

If Barcelona’s interest is genuine, then our board should arrange priority meetings with Salah’s agent. As the Egyptian star is interested in our club’s project, the board should find a way to agree on the financial part of the deal as soon as possible.
