Juventus are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Liverpool midfielder Emre Can in the upcoming transfer window and also seek to beat the Merseyside club in the efforts to pry Mahmoud Dahoud away from Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Italian outfit undeniably have the strongest squad in their respective league but if there is an area that welcomes improvements, then it has to be in the middle of the park.

Over the last few seasons, Massimiliano Allegri has already let go a number of influential stars like Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba. Other players have stepped up, alongside summer capture Miralem Pjanic to dismiss the thoughts that the aforementioned trio is a miss but things haven’t really been on par as before.

Emre Can

TuttoMercatoWeb report that they have identified both Dahoud and Can as trump cards to strengthen their midfield. The former seems to be a tougher name for Klopp to digest as since the summer, the 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield. The former Borussia Dortmund boss, who is known for being frugal in transfer markets, opted not to splash the cash and wait until the end of the campaign as the midfielder will be available for only £8.5 million. Seems like the similar idea was running in the minds of Allegri and other European big boys.

Dahoud’s ability to govern the midfield with sheer work rate and spray beautifully weighted passes to the attacking players has made him a top target for Klopp.

On the other hand, Can is toying between poor run of forms and injuries in recent times. He quickly gathered positive feedbacks since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014 but gradually began to lose the steam. The 23-year-old is out of contract in 2018 and talks to extend has hindered not long ago but Klopp has mentioned that it’s all due to his injury and nothing with his performance.

However, the Liverpool boss immediate focus will be on snatching a Champions League spot this season. If he fails to do so, he could easily lose both players and end up scratching his head to find replacements, as the carrot of European football has seen many targets turning down The Reds in the past. With Juventus looking set to secure a sixth consecutive Serie A title this term, it’s easy to predict that they are considered as greener pastures for any individuals out there.

Last time out against Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool finally bagged their first three points of the year with a convincing 2-0 triumph. Klopp will be hoping for the similar performance when his side take on Leicester City away from home on February 27.
