Liverpool journo Paul Joyce confirms the Reds’ genuine interest in Aurelien Tchouameni
In an article for The Times (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool journalist Paul Joyce confirmed the Reds’ interest in Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
The Frenchman is an excellent talent and has caught the eye following impressive displays in recent seasons. His work on the ball and vision has been superior. Playing a pivot like role from the midfield, he has controlled the pace and intensity of the match.
Liverpool were rumoured to be interested in Tchouameni. Now Reds journalist Paul Joyce confirmed the club’s interest and even suggested that they know that Real Madrid are also in the race.
Joyce revealed that Liverpool’s decision to go for the midfielder’s signature would depend on several crucial factors, including price. However, if they fail to lure the midfielder to Anfield, they would attempt to sign another player with a similar skill set.
Could Liverpool sign Aurelien Tchouameni?
Even though Liverpool currently have one of the best midfield contingents in the Premier League, several players are ageing which could become a massive concern in the coming years. They would need youthful reinforcements in the upcoming windows to address the shortfall.
Tchouameni ticks all the boxes of a quality deep-lying midfielder. The only concern remains whether he can adapt to the Premier League. He would have support available from the best caches in the country for such a case.
As long as Thiago Alcântara, Jordan Henderson and Naby Keïta are performing at their peak; they would probably retain their starting spot.
However, considering the injury crisis of this term, Klopp might be eyeing more depth in the lineup. Tchouameni will offer them more than just depth given his potential. The 22-year-old could develop into a world-beater under Jurgen Klopp’s tutelage.
