Aberdeen youngster Calvin Ramsay makes transfer admission amid Liverpool links
While speaking in an interview as quoted by Liverpool Echo, Calvin Ramsay has revealed that he is currently focusing on the job at hand, despite attracting massive interest from Liverpool.
Calvin Ramsay has proven to be sensational for Aberdeen FC. Apart from showing impressive work in defensive areas, the 18-year-old has been participating in attacking transitions. He has already scored one goal and assisted nine more in 32 appearances across all competitions.
Ramsay has attracted interest from Liverpool. The Reds are currently in safe hands because of the success of Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, down in the line, they might need a quality backup to avoid complications in performance during injury issues.
In a recent interview, Ramsay acknowledged the interest he is gathering from top clubs. However, the 18-year-old made it clear that he is currently focused on his task at Aberdeen and would only listen to offers in the summer transfer window.
“There has been quite a few clubs linked with me in January as well. But, for me, I’m still an Aberdeen player; I’ve still got to focus on the four games left this season and keep putting in good performances if I can get myself back in the team. In the summer, we’ll see where it takes me.”
The Aberdeen youngster even revealed that he sometimes takes inspiration from Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“My dad has helped me a lot. Obviously, players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kyle Walker, all those top players, I like to watch videos of them and try and base my game on them. But when I was younger growing up, my dad definitely helped me a lot to get to where I am.”
Would Calvin Ramsay be a good signing for Liverpool?
Even though the Reds have backups for the left-back role, they don’t have any recognized right back other than Alexander-Arnold. That’s why Liverpool have been entirely dependent on the academy graduate’s services in recent seasons.
The Reds suffered a big defensive crisis last season, and this season saw them deal with a midfield injury crisis to a lesser degree. In both times, the Reds’ squad depth was tested.
Jurgen Klopp’s team looked pretty weak without crucial players like Virgil van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, and Andrew Robertson. Even though the German manager brought some central defensive reinforcements, full-back spots haven’t gotten the same attention.
By signing Calvin Ramsay, Liverpool would have better strength in the squad. Still only 18, the Aberdeen youngster can give us multiple peak years. As he is already following in the footsteps of Alexander-Arnold, he probably wouldn’t have significant problems settling down in Liverpool.

It remains to be seen when Liverpool lodges their first attempt in order to sign the hugely talented Aberdeen youngster Ramsay.
