Liverpool want Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah amidst competition from Chelsea, Everton, and West Ham’s radar

According to transfer news on 90min (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are linked with a free transfer for Eddie Nketiah, who is having an impressive run of form at Arsenal in recent weeks.

Everton, West Ham, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Chelsea are linked with a move for the young striker, who sees his contract at the Emirates expire this summer. A young and talented goal-scorer, widespread interest in him doesn’t come as a surprise.

It is also mentioned that the Reds are ‘monitoring’ his situation and eyeing him as a potential squad option rather than a starter. And given Divock Origi’s uncertain future at Anfield, it would be a smart move.

The Belgian striker has been our saviour from the bench countless times but is now linked with a summer move to AC Milan. With Roberto Firmino already approaching the twilight of his playing career and struggling with injuries this season, signing an attacker seems wise.

What should LFC do?

Apart from the game against Manchester City on New Year’s day, the London-born striker has taken the field for Arsenal in every single one of their league matches this calendar year. Mikel Arteta has clearly placed his trust in him.

He scored twice in a 4-2 win for the Gunners against Chelsea in April and also netted a brace against Leeds United earlier this month. Would he be a good signing if the Reds get a deal for him across the line?

Certainly. The cost would make sense if he doesn’t renew his deal and given that he is still just 22, he still has years ahead of him to improve and get better under a manager like Klopp.

Of course, other suitors may well offer him more playing time as compared to us but the prestige of playing for arguably one of the best clubs in Europe right now is also something that should be taken into consideration.
