Leicester City’s Demarai Gray could be on his way out of the club after enduring a tough time since joining the Foxes. The 20-year-old was one of the brightest players for the Champions of England, especially during the start of the season when they struggled to get points.
But the player was constantly left out of the starting XI and has only started 12 games this season. Gray believes that he needs more time on the pitch for his development and Liverpool are one of the clubs that is interested in the winger, according to the Sunday Mirror.
Leicester had only signed Gray a year ago but the former Birmingham City man could be bought for as little as £12 million. The youngster is also being tracked by a number of other Premier League clubs and the report claims that Everton and Tottenham are also looking to add him to their ranks.
In the limited playing time he has got, Gray has scored four goals and the speedy winger was one of the bright spots for Claudio Ranieri this season. It was a surprise not seeing him start many games and things seem to have come to a head with Craig Shakespeare in line to remain at the job should Leicester avoid relegation this season.
Gray was purchased for a fee of £3.75 million and great things were expected from him. Joining Liverpool or Tottenham would make a lot of sense since both managers like to give young players an opportunity to impress.
Surprisingly, both teams don’t have enough quality players out wide and Gray would certainly be able to do a job. Liverpool do need wingers urgently as they have had to shoehorn Philippe Coutinho out wide and that has affected his game.
The Brazilian would certainly perform better if he was given a more free role and having the pace of Gray on one side with Sadio Mane on the other could be the key to a more rounded attack next season.
The Reds are set to make a number of moves in the summer and although Gray would be a good addition to the side, it does seem unlikely he would be starting a lot of games for the Merseyside club next season.
