Fabrizio Romano gives the latest details on proposed Liverpool contract for Darwin Nunez
Liverpool fans would have been eagerly waiting for a “here we go” from famed transfer expert journalist Fabrizio Romano when it came to news of Darwin Nunez joining the Reds.
The Uruguayan star has been linked with LFC recently and it seems that he is just an official announcement away from being a Red. Just 22, Nunez has had a highly impressive season with SL Benfica, especially in the UEFA Champions League.
And that has nudged Liverpool in the direction of potentially signing the youngster. According to Romano, the striker is currently in Spain with a deal agreed upon yesterday.
A contract until 2028 has been proposed, while the Reds are apparently parting ways with €80million in transfer fees along with €20million in add-ons. Given Jurgen Klopp’s track record at Liverpool when it comes to signings, the finances involved in the deal wouldn’t really bother most LFC fans.
Here we go!
He is now set for a medical in England. These are exciting times for Liverpool fans despite the contract situations surrounding Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The Senegal superstar, who has played as a centre-forward towards the tail end of this season, is linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer. Given Robert Firmino’s injury issues this season, it was imperative that Klopp went out and got in a proper striker.
And Nunez is just that. Those who have seen him play would appreciate the power and accuracy with which he can strike a ball, and his physical stature is also of great use in the final third of the pitch.

If all goes to plan, Nunez should be a Liverpool player soon. At least that is what Liverpool fans would be hoping. One thing is for sure, our fanbase may well just ‘break the internet’ if and when the club announces a deal for the ex-Penarol and UD Almeria man!
