Mohamed Salah sends emotional farewell message to Sadio Mane after Liverpool star completes Bayern Munich transfer
Sadio Mane has completed a move from Liverpool to Bayern Munich, with the Senegalese superstar bringing a six-year journey at Anfield to an end.
Mane joined LFC from Southampton in 2016 and was arguably Klopp’s first big signing at the club- one that started the German’s revolutionary spell on Merseyside.
Mohamed Salah joined from AS Roma the next summer, and the famous front three of Roberto Firmino, Salah, and Mane was born. In the last few years, however, fans often found themselves split when it came to picking sides between the two African stars.
A lot of fans would fault both Mane and Mo for not passing to each other during games and while the two legends of African football celebrated goals together, the sort of warmth and cosiness between them on the field wasn’t quite enough to put the mind of LFC fans at ease.
But at the end of the day, the two shared a good working relationship on the field and barely gave any hints that they were in any sort of a feud. In fact, Mane, when questioned by an Egyptian reporter back in December 2019 regarding his relationship with Salah, said:
“Very, very good friends. The Egyptian King!” [When asked on his relationship with Salah]. What kind of problem? [Smiling, after he was asked if the two had any problems between them].
“People, keep supporting Salah. He is doing everything for Egypt and he keeps fighting for Egypt, so see you soon in Egypt!”
And now, Salah has tweeted a series of photos together with Mane and bid him farewell, as seen in the tweet above. They fought side by side for Liverpool in the same team and achieved some of the greatest feats in the history of this great club.
Salah admits that Mane will be ‘missed’ by all of the squad, which is indeed very true. He was a model professional for us on and off the pitch and leaves as one of the club’s all-time greats.
