A lot of players have been linked with Liverpool over the last few months, with most of them being central defenders and central midfielders. The Reds have been exposed in these areas and the apparent lack of quality has been clearly visible.
While the central midfield region has suffered due to lack of depth, the lack of quality at the back has been alarming and it is high time Klopp addresses these issues during the summer.
RB Leipzig have been having a wonderful season to everyone’s surprise. They seem to be on the right track. It would be fair to say that their success has been built around a solid bunch of talented young players and Naby Keita is one of them. He has been linked with Liverpool quite heavily and a lot of speculation has been going around regarding the player’s future and Liverpool’s interest.
Last month, the Daily Star claimed that Liverpool were looking at the possibility of signing the player, who is valued at around £26 million. However, Naby Keita has now opened about his future plans and has revealed that he is completely focused on the task in his hand, which is to play for RB Leipzig.
Keita was quoted by Liverpool Echo,
“I’m very comfortable at Leipzig. There are still three games to go, that’s what I’m concentrating on. My agent takes care of everything else. When it’s time, I’ll discuss it with him and my family.”
Keita has scored eight league goals after his move to Leipzig last summer, with his performances helping his side qualify for the Champions League next season. His outings have seen his club’s sporting director, Ralf Rangnick, liken him to a koala bear because he is so easy to hug.
That is something Keita has reportedly denied, joking:
“He often puts an arm around me. I don’t know exactly know what a koala bear looks like though. Actually, I often fear animals because in Guinea many are dangerous.”
Klopp has found it difficult to deal with the absence of his first-team stars and with European football waiting next season, it is a given that the German strengthens the team before the start of next season.
