Liverpool legend Steve Nicol tips Jude Bellingham to sign for Real Madrid
Talking on ESPN FC (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool legend Steve Nicol predicts Jude Bellingham to sign for Real Madrid if the midfielder has the option.
Speaking on the 19-year-old’s options for a transfer away from Borussia Dortmund, the ex-Reds legend believes every top team in the world would want a player like Bellingham in their side.
“I’d think he’s got the pick of whatever he fancies, any side with any ambition to be successful will want Jude Bellingham and I think he’ll get the pick.”
Nicol also feels that if the young midfielder has the choice of signing for Madrid, the Santiago Bernabeu would be a compelling destination.
“If it’s Real Madrid, why would you not go to Real Madrid?”
Liverpool a compelling destination for Bellingham
Currently one of the two best sides in England, and some fans might argue the world, Liverpool have gone from strength to strength under Jurgen Klopp. We’ve won every possible trophy under the German boss and look hungry for more.
The Reds have competed in three Champions League finals in the last five seasons. Domestically, the Merseyside club have been able to go toe to toe against Manchester City, something that other sides have been unable to do so.
The 19-year-old Englishman has a long way to go in his career still. The youngster played for Birmingham City in the Championship before moving to Germany in 2020.
Liverpool are one of the best clubs in the country he grew up in. The likes of Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold have already played alongside Bellingham in the national team.
The Anfield side has an ageing midfield with the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Henderson and James Milner over the age of 30. Fans feel the side needs an injection of new blood.
