Liverpool are installing a new hybrid pitch at Anfield ahead of the 2022/23 season
Liverpool are installing a hybrid carpet pitch before the start of the 2022/23 season at Anfield, according to the club’s official website. The Merseyside club are using the high-quality pitch to improve playing conditions.
The new pitch is composed of 95 percent grass and five per cent artificial fibres. It will reduce the amount of time needed to get a pitch ready once again at the end of the season.
Coupled with the new drainage system installed in 2017 and the undersoil heating system, the pitch will be state-of-the-art. Slowly yet steadily development is taking place on and off the pitch at the club.
The Merseyside club are also planning on increasing the stadium capacity by the start of the 2023/24 season. The Anfield Road stand is set to be redeveloped and will take the capacity of the stadium to 61,000, one of the largest in the Premier League.
Good to see Liverpool invest in stadium
The Kop are renowned for making the atmosphere unbearable for opposing sides. And it’s good to see the club invest in the stadium and allow more fans to get into the action. Passionate fans such as ours are only going to make the atmosphere more electric.
Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp have become resilient, especially at Anfield. The stadium has become a fortress and has seen phenomenal comebacks like the 4-0 win over Barcelona in the Champions League Semi-Final in 2019.
The fans have been a big part of the side’s solidity. With the intimidating crowd on their back, it’s no wonder that teams often crumble in the stadium.
The side went on a 68-game home unbeaten streak before being beaten by Burnley in early 2021. Last season Liverpool recorded just two losses, and none of them were at home.
