Bayern Munich star Sadio Mane makes a generous gesture to Liverpool staff members
Former Liverpool forward and Senegalese International Sadio Mane has gone on to show that he still has a soft spot for the Reds and their staff despite moving to Bayern Munich earlier in the summer.
According to German publication Bild (h/t The Mirror), the 30-year-old showed his affection to the Liverpool staff by sending each of them gifts to celebrate the value and role of each member during his time on Merseyside.
The Senegalese star ended a six-year relationship with the Reds to seal a move to the German giants, FC Bayern Munich for £35million. He was an integral part of the Jurgen Klopp era and won every major accolade under the sub with the Reds.
He was seeking a new challenge and Bayern presented him with just that. A Liverpool legend, he has taken to life in the Bundesliga like a fish to water.
While some may claim it was a premature end to a beautiful relationship between the club and the player, one can not fault the attacker for seeking a fresh challenge.
Mane is more than just a world-class player on the field. His gestures off it show us an individual who is humble, grounded and understands the importance and value of each person in his life.
These qualities are also something that many do not associate with professional football players, who are known for showing supremacist tendencies due to the nature of their stardom.
Sadio Mane is an exception to this and has proven time and time again his willingness to not forget his roots and use the privilege given to him to help the underprivileged. The former No. 10 sent 150 gift hampers to Liverpool players and staff. This included chocolates, a portrait of his and a handwritten card.
Mane understands the role each and every person at Anfield and Kirkby played in his development. It was at Liverpool that he developed into a world-class talent and it is good to see that he values these contributions.
