Liverpool are interested in signing Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge

According to Sky Sports journalist Gary Weaves via Football365 (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has expressed an interest in signing Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge.

With Liverpool going through an injury crisis with Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain on the sidelines, fans have been calling out for a signing to solve the injury problems in the middle of the park.

Many names are being linked with Liverpool in their search for the “right midfielder”, with Sander Berge’s name now coming out more persistently. He has impressed for the Blades since moving to Bramall Lane in 2020.

Klopp has a keen eye for talent and was impressed by the Norwegian’s performance when his side met Genk in 2019. After the final whistle, Klopp spoke to the player and praised him for the performance.

“You (Berge)are an interesting player, a very interesting player”.

Klopp prefers acquiring players with potential that can be exploited rather than the finished products and the manager would have surely seen something in the midfielder to reignite their interest in the player, after failing in their attempt to sign him when he left Genk.

Berge is far from a thrilling option but Liverpool have often shown that they know what they are doping in the transfer market. Whether the Norwegian will eventually wear the red jersey remains to be seen.
