Xabi Alonso is full of praise for Liverpool superstar Thiago Alcantara
Speaking in an interview with Liverpoolfc.com ahead of his return to Anfield, Spanish legend Xabi Alonso is full of praise for talented Liverpool midfield maestro Thiago Alcantara.
Thiago needs no introduction. A product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, the Spaniard is one of the best midfielders in the world and if not for injuries, could have had an absolutely insane career.
The Spanish playmaker has still had an exceptional career but it could have been much better. Sometimes, his abilities are so ridiculous that it is almost unbelievable that Barcelona allowed Thiago to leave.
After a sensational time at Bayern Munchen, Thiago joined the Reds in 2020. Although he has struggled with injuries during his time here, Liverpool always looks like a different team when the Spaniard plays.
Thiago is just exceptional on the ball. He keeps the game flowing and some of his passing is a delight to watch. The Spaniard has the ability to make difficult things look ridiculously simple on a football pitch.
Xabi Alonso played with Thiago at Bayern and it is of no surprise that he had glowing words to say of the Spaniard.
“You could see that he’s a different player. He’s a different talent because he’s competitive but at the same time he has those magic Brazilian actions that are not that European. He’s competitive but he can do different things. He was a great player at Bayern and he continues being consistent and being a great player at Liverpool.”
Alonso also went on to reveal that he told Thiago to join Liverpool when the Spaniard came to him in 2020 and went on to say that Bayern were a great club but in terms of pure footballing terms, it could not get much better than Liverpool.
There is no doubt that Thiago makes Liverpool better. He deserves to be the first name on the team sheet every single time the Reds play but the problem is that he tends to get injured very often.
